16th International Science Youth Forum (ISYF) 2024
Exploring Science and Technology: Highlights from the 16th International Science Youth Forum (ISYF) 2024
The 16th International Science Youth Forum (ISYF), organised by the Students’ Science Research Club (SSRC), commenced on 8 Jan 2024, welcoming delegates and educators from across the globe on our campus.
Nobel Laureate physicist Professor Duncan Haldane, a keynote speaker at the event who delivered the Keynote Lecture at the event, articulated his unwavering commitment to the pursuit of uncovering novel discoveries in the realm of quantum physics. Driven by an insatiable quest "to discover something no one else has found before," he passionately shared the motivations fueling his ongoing endeavors.
Under this year’s theme of “Science and Technology for Humanity: Building a Sustainable Future”, delegates from all walks of life were invited to contemplate the profound impacts of scientific and technological progress. Guest-of-Honour Professor Ng Huck Hui (Assistant Chief Executive, Research & Talent Development, A*STAR) and Professor Haldane engaged delegates in invaluable and enlightening conversations relevant to research.

Besides the Keynote Lecture, ISYF 2024 featured excursions to the National
University of Singapore (NUS), Science Centre Singapore, and Bird Paradise,
giving delegates a glimpse of how local institutions apply science and
technology in sustaining their operations. Delegates were also given the
opportunity to work together and bond over cultural performances and the
flagship Collaborative Science Activities.
The 16th ISYF 2024 wrapped up with insightful talks and masterclasses, sparking a shared commitment to push the boundaries of science and tech for a sustainable future. The speakers left our young delegates geared up for a lifelong journey of genuine exploration and innovation. We hope that all delegates have enjoyed their time at ISYF 2024, and are inspired to use science and technology to build a sustainable future!
