On the early morning of 16 Feb 2024, amidst the echoes of unity, Hwa Chong rallied together in a stirring assembly, standing shoulder to shoulder as soldiers from the 1 Singapore Infantry Regiment lined the terraces with a powerful demonstration of Singapore’s defence prowess.

Apart from the shared camaraderie and impressive military display, confronting Hwa Chongians was a water rationing and food disruption exercise that underscored the importance of readiness as we delved into and experienced first-hand the significance of supply disruptions.

From the heart of the event flowed a vital message of preparedness, raising awareness of potential national supply threats and prompting students to craft their own contingency plans for disruptions.

As we mark the 40th year of Total Defence Day, Hwa Chong embraces the spirit of solidarity, poised to overcome any challenge that may come our way. As Singapore navigates heightened volatility and global uncertainty today, this year’s TD40 commemoration symbolises a commitment to enhance resilience and unity.
